An informative post with some helpful advice about what can be a difficult problem for both dog and owner.

I’ve found that leaving my dog with some of his favorite toys helped him so he has something to do on the times I’m away from him for a short time. And leaving the radio on for him to listen to has been effective.

I learned other useful tips and hints from http://www.canineseparationanxiety.co.uk as well. It’s one of the most helpful sites out there I found when researching what might help my dog cope better.

Thanks for the info Thundershirt, this reminds me of the weighted vests for children who have sensory processing issues. I can see how this would actually benefit our furred friends as well! Way to go!

Separation anxiety in dogs is something that can be very stressful for dogs as well as their owners. I also found an awesome travel website for pet owners. Pet Hotels of America http://www.pethotelsofamerica.com. It has listings for 25,000 pet-friendly hotels…Marriotts, Hyatts, Great Westerns etc.. You can reserve directly and they offer pet owners special rates. Plus, they have names and locations of everything else pet friendly for every city in the U.S. including off-leash parks, pet-friendly restaurants, vets, shopping and sooo much more. Really a site worth visiting.
